This is a really stupid question. I'm not even going to address the political aspects of it. I'm just going to say that I don't long for the Cold War days, because my husband is from East Berlin - if the wall were still up, we'd never have met. 1. My username is _____ because ____. My username is samtaro82 because when I picked it, I was really into the Japanese cartoon Hamtaro. :D Pretty sure it's not really appropriate, because I think the suffix -taro is generally for boys, but meh. He is one cute hamster.

My name is Sam because my parents apparently wanted to name me after some long-dead great uncle whose name was Samuel, and as I turned out to be a girl, Samantha was the only acceptable alternative. ;) My mom had originally wanted to name me Katherine Elizabeth, but my cousin Katie was born a few months before I was and took that name. I'm happier with Samantha Elizabeth, personally. ;)
3. My journal is titled ____ because ____. My journal is titled Ersatzverkehr because 1) it's one of my favorite German words for which there is really no accurate English equivalent (it means something like replacement transport, and it's used when, for example, train tracks are under construction and you have to take a different route. Like a detour, but...not), and 2) it sort of describes how my life has been so far. I mean, whose life isn't Ersatzverkehr, really?
4. My friends page is called ____ because ____. I don't think I have a name for my friends page. Sam's friends? I think that's pretty self-explanatory.
5. My default userpic is ____ because _____. Alphonse Mucha's Fruit, because I think his prints are just wonderful. His ladies are all very sassy without being over-sexed, and THE FLOWERS!! So lovely. :D And they're mostly Slavic ladies, which I also am (at least 50% of me is!), so...I dunno. I just love 'em.
Without my brother, I would be a much more obnoxious person than I am. He taught me what it means to treat your family with respect and kindness instead of always selfishly trying to make them be who you think they should be. My brother is the coolest person I know, and he is one of my best friends in the whole world, despite the fact that we fought a lot as kids. So in other words, I'd be pretty much lost without him! :D

My linguistics teacher in undergrad gave us a very similar test on our first day, and she was also able to pinpoint that I was from Northeastern Ohio. :D
Northern. Whether you have the world famous Inland North accent of the Great Lakes area, or the radio-friendly sound of upstate NY and western New England, your accent is what used to set the standard for American English pronunciation (not much anymore now that the Inland North sounds like it does).
